After all I was hearing on the boards, as well as I guy I was out and frozen. I really do not want a card that is going to get me nervous every time I get it.
After years with bad credit I already nervous enough when I pay at the checkout. Why.
Anyway not sure I need a new card aspire to. Any suggestions?

Look, if you want an Amex, apply for an Amex. If FR hits, deal with it as it comes. That's the only way to handle a situation like this. Don't let what you read on these boards scare you. People are acting like Amex is the new First Premire or Crap One. It's not.
YOU A LITTLE HOT????????
You need a chill pill
Reply: …No, Amex isn't king here 3 or so months ago. They been notoriously famous for F/R for a long time. Citi have been very good all around.
Do you think I don't read CB..?
How many "YES. I'm in the AMEX FAMILY THREADS!" would you like me to find for you..?
There were tons of these each week. It was a little mini-party each time, and all the "regulars" were congratulating the OP for "joining the family."
You couldn't be more mistaken, sure F/R has been a topic here for quite some time, but it was widely considered an aberration that *most* folks would never run into…
Whatever though.
Cheers.
Reply: Chase (I would REALLY live in fear of them…),
They pay my bills so I can't complain.
I really am looking forward to the day when I can get in with BoA and Citi though.

Citi is simply the best at the moment…
Good luck!!!
…and for me that's the point. AMEX was king here three or so months ago. The winds have blow toward CITI at the moment. Someone else will be the "most popular" in six more months.
Don't blow with the wind.
Have enough CCs with a large enough variety of issuers so that no one has you by the balls (so to speak), and get on with living. It's time to let the drama subside… (IMO)
Cheers all. Happy Sunday.

Reply:If you aspire for an Amex, get one. I don't live in fear of using mine. If you're too afraid, then go for another issuer – Discover, Citi, Chase (I would REALLY live in fear of them…), MBNA/BOA, etc.

Good luck!!!
Reply: I have two Amex cards and received them both in the last six months. I love them. I PIF every month and run them up with all my bills. If they FR me, then so be it. I'll either comply or not, but either way, what's the worst that can happen? They close your accounts? Oh well, there are plenty of other cards out there. There is too much anxiety behind these FRs, IMHO.
I agree with you 1000 percent.

Reply:true..thats why everyone is different when they come knocking. some may comply some may not…..just my personal opinon..about the prestige thing.
Reply:But on the other hand things change…so they want to get complete updated picture of you. Again…just my opinion.
Reply: Maybe they should just make it harder to be approved and then leave you alone after you get it.
Anyway my father has had one for like 30 years self employed they never screwed with him – he is an old school customer.
I agree.

PS: the prestige of amex is long gone….it was years ago. actually now that i have one..i dont really care if i ever get a F/R…besides no one cares now a days what card you use as long as it gets approved and the merchant gets paid..i really believe amex will one day come knocking with everyone in terms of a F/R…be it 1 month or 30 years..amex does'nt seem to care what your tenure is with them when it comes time for the F/R…
I might be wrong on this but here is my opinion. AmEx still wants to keep that prestige status. That's why they are doing F/R's.

Reply:Buck Rogers?
IF you want an amex you should go for it. Some never have to go through a f/r.
Reply:does your EX FROZEN DATE have a co-branded AMEX?
Reply:There are other prime credit cards like BofA, Citi, and so on. You can go for a co-branded Amex. I hear there are no shenanigans with those.
